Capture d’écran 2015-06-27 à 14.47.07En très peu de temps, Rachel Therrien a réussi à se démarquer en tant que trompettiste et compositrice non seulement sur la scène musicale du Québec, mais également à l’international. Musicienne de profession depuis plusieurs années, elle compte à son actif plusieurs années d’études. Un BAC en Jazz à l’Université de Montréal; un an d’étude en musique classique, jazz et percussions latines à l’Institut Supérieur de l’Art de La Havane, et depuis se perfectionne avec des grands maîtres du Jazz à New York. (Dave Douglas, John McNeil, Laurie Frink, Jonathan Finlayson, Clarence Penn, etc.) Depuis 2009 elle dirige son projet et accumule des retombées de son 1er opus “On Track” (2011).

La jeune trompettiste accomplie de la scène jazz de Montréal conjugue à la fois créativité, professionnalisme,  savoir-faire, technique et rigueur. Avec de nouvelles compositions originales et accompagnées de musiciens étoiles de la nouvelle génération, Rachel transporte son public au coeur de ses nombreuses expériences de voyage. Ce spectacle Jazz reflète la joie, la mélancolie et des lignes d’improvisations embellies par une orchestration musicale qui est sans conteste la valeur ajoutée de ses projets.


In a very short time, Rachel Therrien has managed to stand out as a trumpet player and composer not only on the local Quebec music scene but internationally as well. Inspired by her experiences around the world to create music with her own personal sound. She has been a professional musician for most of her life, playing in a variety of musical styles.

Rachel holds a bachelor’s degree in jazz performance from University of Montreal. After her studies, she relocated to Havana, Cuba for one year to study classical music, latin jazz and percussion at the Instituto Supérior de Arte. She was also selected for the Jazz and Creative Music workshop held at the Banff Centre, in Alberta Canada, where she had the opportunity to learn from many musicians including Dave Douglas. In New York, she has taken classes with John McNeill, Laurie Frink, Jonathan Finlayson and Clarence Penn.

Outside of leading her own band, Rachel has had the pleasure to work with such artists as Wesli, Pedrito Martinez, Vic Vogel, Remi Bolduc, Oliver Jones, Carole Welsman, Anancaona de Cuba, Klimax, Michel Legrand, Ginette Reno, Alex Bellegarde, Rember Duharte and Nomadic Massive among others.The creative young trumpet player is as well knew for her musical abilities as well as her rigorous work ethic. With her team of up and coming players from Montreal she communicates her passion and world traveler experience to her audience who usually begs for more at the end of each concert.

Marie-Claire DurandPiano/Voix

Capture d’écran 2015-06-27 à 14.50.23Originaire de Québec, Marie-Claire Durand est établie à Montréal, où elle a obtenu une maîtrise en composition jazz de l’Université McGill. Elle est active en tant que musicienne (piano, voix, composition et arrangement) et enseignante, notamment au Cégep de Sainte-Foy.

Accompagnée par Joel Kerr à la contrebasse et Eric Thibodeau à la batterie, la pianiste et chanteuse interprète ses compositions originales. Le répertoire du trio est composé de pièces instrumentales ainsi que de chansons en français et en anglais, dont le caractère est parfois méditatif, parfois conversationnel ou humoristique.

Ses autres projets incluent le Quintet Marie-Claire Durand (OFF Festival de Jazz de Montréal 2009, Festival On Jazz sous la lune 2011), dont l’album, Mai, est paru en février 2011. Un autre de ses projets, le trio Takk, (Festival International de Jazz de Montréal 2010, Festival de Jazz d’Halifax – Concours Galaxie Rising Star 2012) rassemble des musiciennes (Charlotte Cornfield, Averil Parker) dont les influences et expériences diverses convergent en un résultat qui transcende les genres. Marie-Claire est également pianiste au sein du trio Bean (OFF Festival de Jazz de Montréal 2012) avec Joel Kerr et Mark Nelson. Axé sur l’improvisation libre, le trio se spécialise dans de courtes improvisations ludiques, ainsi que dans l’interprétation personnelle de pièces du répertoire populaire.


Marie-Claire Durand is a Montreal-based musician, active as a pianist, vocalist, arranger, as well as composer and teacher (Cégep de Sainte-Foy). She received a Masters in Jazz Composition from McGill University. Accompanied by Joel Kerr on bass and Eric Thibodeau on drums, the composer performs a variety of instrumental and vocal original compositions. Her song writing, both in English and in French, spans from conversational to meditative, while being at times humoristic.

Her album Mai, released in February 2011, a collection of eight original compositions for jazz quintet, was featured at the OFF Festival de Jazz de Montréal in 2009, and the Festival On Jazz sous la lune in 2011.

Her other projects include Takk, a genre-bending jazz-pop-rock trio with drummer/singer Charlotte Cornfield and saxophonist Averil Parker. (Montreal International Jazz Festival 2010, Halifax Jazz Festival – Galaxie Rising Star Contest 2012) She is also pianist and co-leader of Bean (Joel Kerr, Mark Nelson), a free-jazz trio focused on playful and short improvisations. The trio was featured at the OFF Festival de Jazz de Montréal in 2012.

Peter Traunmueller (NYC) – Drums

A native of Salzburg (Austria), Peter grew up in a music-friendly home surrounded by lots of different instruments and recordings from Count Basie to the Beatles and many more. Playing extensively on mama’s cooking pots his parents decided to put him in the basement, along with a drumset and tons of exercises, which were given to him by his first teacher Matthias Birzer. By then all was set for a career in music.

Peter studied drums privately with Peter Bachmayer and piano with Bruno Juen before he attended the Anton Bruckner Privat University where he studied with Jeff Boudreaux, Doug Hammond and Dejan Pecenko.
 During this time Peter had the chance to work with many well known players such as Charles Haynes, Harry Sokal, Klaus Dickbauer, Hermann Linecker, Andreas Schreiber among others. He has performed with various groups at musical venues such as Jazzfestival Saalfelden (AT), Young Jazz in Town Festival (IT), Bayrisches Jazzweekend (DE), Jazz & The City (AT), MM Jazzfestival (AT),

OCT-LOFT Jazz Festival (CN), Jazz @ Lincoln Center (NYC) etc.
Currently Peter is working with the following groups and musicians: in the US: Joe Alterman Trio, Milo Z & The Funk Machine, Bellatonic, Michel Reis Quartet, Lukas Gabric Quartet, Jed Levy, James Cammack, Ray Gallon, Pat O’Leary, Eddy Khaimovich, Dan Lipsitz. in Austria: Peter Traunmueller & Hermann Linecker, Peter, Lois & Lukes, Andi Haidecker, Frank Schwinn, Jörg Leichtfried.
