Biographie:

Née à Mission B.C., Kevin est un batteur, compositeur et arrangeur basée à Montréal. Il a commencé a jouer du drum à l’âge de neuf ans. Il a gradué du Langley Fine Arts School au Colombie Brittanique, et a ensuite déménager à Montréal pour faire un bacheloreat en musique (interpretation jazz) à McGill. Pendant ces études à McGill, il a pris des cours avec Christine Jensen, Jan Jarczyk, Andre White, Fraser Hollins, Dave Laing et Chris McCann. Il a jouer dans l’orchestre McGill Jazz 1 pendant deux ans, sous la direction de Gordon Foote. Kevin a participer dans les tournées internationales en Europe et l’Amérique du Nord. Il est présentement basée à Montréal, où il joue avec plusieurs groupes jazz incluant, Alexandre Côté Quintet, François Jalbert Quartet et le Jean-Nicolas Trottier Big Band, et les groupe de pop/rock The Franklin Electric, Caroline D’été, Franck Deweare et Jorane. Il a tournée en 2008 à 2011 avec le pianiste cubain Rafael Zaldivar. Ce trio a été nommé “Artiste Révélation 2010-2011” dans la catégorie jazz. En 2001, Kevin a gagné le Prix du Féstival International de Jazz de Montréal avec le quintet Alexandre Côté. Son travail avec le groupe rock/country Ladies of the Canyon a donné a un nomination du prix “Rising Star” au prix CCMA en 2011. Il accompagne aussi le trompetiste/compositeur Jacques Kuba Séguin qui est présentemetn nommé “Artiste Révélation 2012-2013” par Radio Canada. Il vien de sortir son premier album “East West Project” sur l’étiquette Oddsound. Kevin est commandité par les batteries Pearl et cymbales Dream.

Biography:

Born and raised in Mission B.C, Kevin is a drummer, composer and arranger based in Montreal. His passion for drumming began when he was nine years old, inspired by the rock/alternative bands of the 90’s. At 13, he began taking private lessons to study jazz and fusion drumming. After graduating from the Langley Fine Arts School in Fort Langley B.C., he moved to Montreal to pursue a B.Mus in Jazz Performance from McGill University where he studied with Christine Jensen, Jan Jarczyk, Andre White, Fraser Hollins, Dave Laing and Chris McCann. He performed with the McGill Jazz Orchestra 1 for 2 years, under the direction of Prof. Gordon Foote. Kevin has toured internationally throughout Europe and North America. He currently keeps a busy schedule in Montreal as a sideman for many jazz groups including Alexandre Côté Quintet, François Jalbert Quartet, Yannick Rieu “Spectrum 4”, and the Jean-Nicolas Trottier Big Band, as well as pop groups The Franklin Electric, Caroline D’été, Franck Deweare and Jorane. He toured extensively from 2008 to 2011 with Cuban pianist Rafael Zaldivar. This trio was honoured CBC Radio Canada’s “Artiste Révélation 2010-2011” in the jazz category. In 2011 he won the Prix du Festival at the Montreal International Jazz festival, as a member of the Alexandre Côté Quintet. He has toured and recorded with the country/rock group Ladies of the Canyon, which was nominated for the “Rising Star” award at the 2011 CCMA Awards. He currently accompanies Montreal trumpeter/composer Jacques Kuba Séguin, named CBC Radio Canada’s “Artiste Revelation 2012-2013” for jazz, and has found the time to compose and arrange for his own “East West Project” which released it’s debut album May 9, 2013. Kevin plays Pearl drums and Dream Cymbals.
